使用 Firefox/擴充套件
擴充套件是小的附加元件，它們為 Firefox 添加了新功能，但不要與外掛混淆。
在 Firefox 中，附加元件是一個通用術語，在 Firefox 中應用於擴充套件本身、主題、使用者指令碼、使用者樣式、服務工作者、外掛、拼寫檢查器和語言包。擴充套件依賴於 Firefox 中的內建框架和API，並在安裝後集成到瀏覽器中。而外掛，例如 Adobe Flash，使用非 Firefox 本地的程式設計，通常僅在網頁包含需要載入 Flash 的程式碼時才嵌入到網頁中。
使用傳統 XPCOM、XUL 和 JetPack 框架的擴充套件，在 Firefox 56.0 之前受支援。這些分別被稱為傳統擴充套件和 Firefox 的傳統版本。在 2018 年後期，Mozilla 停止了對基於 XUL 的擴充套件的支援，不再託管它們，儘管仍然存在多種獲取傳統擴充套件的方法。
WebExtensions最初在 Firefox 48.0 中得到支援，從 Firefox 57.0 開始，僅支援 WebExtensions。
擴充套件可以新增任何東西，從工具欄按鈕到全新的功能。它們允許瀏覽器進行自定義以滿足每個使用者的個人需求，如果他們需要其他功能，而 Firefox 本身則保持相對樸素。

大多數 Firefox、SeaMonkey、Thunderbird 及其衍生產品的擴充套件都可以在 Mozilla 附加元件網站上找到，該網站託管了 1000 多個擴充套件。大量的附加元件可能使人們難以找到他們想要的東西。

由於 Mozilla 不再託管傳統擴充套件，因此它們以 XPI 檔案形式的安裝程式仍然可以從許多地方獲得

網際網路檔案是與原始 Mozilla Addons 網站最接近的資源，並且託管了大多數擴充套件的描述和版本頁面。如果擴充套件頁面在 2018 年 10 月/11 月（含）之前被存檔，那麼它大部分也是可用的，例如顯示擴充套件是否與訪問瀏覽器相容。
檢視擴充套件的存檔頁面的要求是知道它在 Mozilla Addons 網站上的原始地址。這可以透過瀏覽器中現有擴充套件的安裝資訊找到，或者透過使用附加元件名稱搜尋網際網路找到。
如果擴充套件的存檔頁面或其版本頁面上的“新增到 Firefox”按鈕處於活動狀態（通常為綠色），則單擊該按鈕可能會將使用者重定向到擴充套件的安裝程式 (XPI) 檔案，但不一定。解決方法是右鍵單擊“新增到 Firefox”按鈕，並在新標籤頁中開啟按鈕的連結（指向 XPI 檔案）。這會導致幾次重定向到正確的 XPI 檔案。還要注意，您必須在擴充套件安裝通知視窗中允許從 web.archive.org 安裝擴充套件。
並非所有擴充套件安裝程式都可以在 Wayback Machine 上獲得，因為它們在最初可用時沒有被存檔。
用於 Firefox 的擴充套件的替代（在某些情況下更技術性）下載來源可在 MozDev 的XULRunner 名人堂、mirror.umd.edu和http://ftp.metu.edu.tr上找到。
- Adblock Plus - 阻止或隱藏網頁上的廣告和其他令人討厭的內容，同時保留正確的頁面格式。它圍繞著阻止列表設計，允許您阻止內置於網頁中的快閃記憶體和影像橫幅，以及指令碼。您可以使用萬用字元 (*) 新增自己的過濾器以建立簡單的自定義過濾器，或者使用正則表示式建立高階過濾器。Adblock Plus 會自動下載預設的阻止列表，並提供其他阻止列表以供您根據地區或功能（例如挖礦程式）啟用和下載。
