梅西耶 86（也稱為M86或NGC 4406）是室女座的一個w:透鏡狀星系。它於w:1781年由w:梅西耶發現。M86位於室女座星系團的核心，並與另一個巨型星系w:透鏡狀星系M84形成一個最顯眼的星系群。它顯示了所有梅西耶天體中最高的w:藍移，因為它正以244公里/秒的速度接近w:銀河系。這被認為是由於它正朝著室女座星系團的中心下落，這使它離我們更近。^[3]
