這首詩被認為是托馬斯·懷亞特爵士的作品,[1]H2抄錄。這首詩也出現在托特爾詩集中,標題為“愛人對他的床,描述了他的不安狀態”(第 62 項)。[2]雷布霍爾茲認為懷亞特可能改編了彼特拉克的《詩歌》234,第一節中:“懷亞特擴充套件了彼特拉克的反義(在情感風暴中的避風港和眼淚的基礎之間),將其變成反義的目錄,使第一節類似於第十七節”。[3]懷亞特可能也從彼特拉克關於眼淚和離開曾經帶給他慰藉的臥室的提法中獲得了他的反覆句。在這首詩中,說話者描述了愛人在他床上不安的狀態。
