這首詩歸因於托馬斯·懷亞特爵士[3] 是由H8 錄入的。懷亞特的這首短詩是塞拉菲諾·阿奎拉諾的strambotto“Ogni pungente et venenosa spina”的翻譯。這首詩也出現在托特爾詩集裡,標題是“快樂與每一種痛苦交織在一起”(第 257 項)。[4] 懷亞特的這首詩與其他版本明顯不同,其他版本清楚地顯示為“Venemous thorns”。這首短詩還體現了普魯塔克的對比,即毒藥被描述為藥物,火被描述為治療和傷害的元素,等等。說話者希望從愛情中受到的傷害能夠帶來健康。
